GROUND CONDUCTIVITY / ELECTROMAGNETICS (EM)

Ground Conductivity or Electromagnetics is an electromagnetic mapping technique used to investigate lateral variations in overburden material and variations in depth to bedrock. This is done by inducing a primary alternating electric current of known frequency and magnitude in the subsurface.

The technique records the propagating response as the energy travels through the subsurface. Unlike conventional resistivity techniques, no ground contact is required.  This eliminates direct electrical coupling problems and allows for a much more rapid rate of data acquisition.

Terravision Exploration has utilised this technique in consolidating surveys for a range of applications from locating buried metal objects to delineating contamination leaching associated with landfills.
